I’ve spent a lot of time looking at food blogs before finally attempting to begin my own. I’ve been dragging my feet about it because I’ve been trying to find direction, and worry that when I start writing what I have to write about won’t be of interest to the online foodie community. In short, I’ve been holding back on doing something that brings me joy because I’m afraid of failing.
So this post is about getting over my self-defeating attitude and just writing about what I want to write about – essentially what I would enjoy reading about - and if this blog doesn’t do it for ya, no hard feelings!
What I love about the food blogs I frequent is the food photography. I love looking at the dishes posted on Food Porn Daily and This is Why You’re Fat, hell I’m salivating just thinking them.
I also love a good food challenge, such as the one put forth in the ditzy yet entertaining – because it dealt with food – movie Julie and Julia: make every recipe in the Julia Child’s cookbook before the year is up. An old-time favourite is the kitchen stadium challenges on Iron Chef, and Adam Richman’s Man vs Food eating competitions.
So, I hereby set forth my food blog challenge:
1) To tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth concerning my encounters with food.
2) To document these encounters. Sometimes the story behind a dish arriving in front of you is just as exciting as enjoying the dish itself.
Who knows where i ♥ to eat will be in the future; as time goes by if this experiment in blogging/food exploration achieves only my enjoyment I will be satisfied knowing I started something and stuck with it. If I happen to make a couple of people laugh, or drool over some fab food photos, even better. After all food is best enjoyed with friends.
